Azkend 2: The Puzzle Adventure App Reviews

Crying shame

I completely agree with the other comments regarding the difficulty level of this game. It is almost impossible to complete certain levels. This game could have been great but alas it has been ruined. It quickly stops being fun and instead becomes irritating and frustrating. Its a shame because the graphics and music are gorgeous. Save your money and buy Heroes of Kalevela instead. This game is such a disappointment! This is a brilliant developer. Maybe they can fix this. I hope so!

Pretty, but boring

The original Azkend received a lot of praise. I tried its trial version and enjoyed it, so I thought I would really like the sequel. While Azkend 2 looks great, I find the gameplay repetitive and boring. It does not help that often you will repeatedly run out of moves and the game will shuffle its tiles, but even if that problem were absent I think I would still quickly tire of this game. This was a disappointing purchase.

Fun new elements make up for ...

Their best release yet, so far. Very clever new puzzles. Still great music and beautiful, engaging artwork. Their match three, puzzle, story games de-stress and recharge yourself, and challenge you at the same time. I have read the the "unbalanced" complaints. But I like the variety of new elements in the puzzles. Not just match three, they add more clever twists. I also enjoy the small touch of working the story line into some of the "find the photo detail" sections. These chapter breaks used to seem random, pointless, and easy. Now they are getting harder but with some story clues to lead you. I like that their previous games are games that I can finish, unlike the pinball games that require being a fanatic games master to get far into them. We will see if I get stuck later. Disclaimer: I havent finished the game yet. Stay tuned.

Letdown from Azkend 1

As much as I loved the first Azkend, this second version is a major disappointment. The graphics are great, but there just isnt enough time or space on the game board to make matches and finish some levels. Im only halfway through and having to play levels repeatedly to pass them. I rarely had to do that on the first one or any other match-3 Ive played. I think more time to finish levels would help, or decreasing the number of different types of game pieces on the boards to help make matches might be another solution. But it definitely needs some work because its just an exercise in frustration the way it is now!

what a disappointment

I agree with everything that has been said. Loved the first game. This one is a real drag. I eagerly awaited the release and now I cant even stand to play. Graphics are great but not fun. Really needs to be improved

So frustrating

I understand wanting to make a challenging game, but this game is so frustratingly difficult that it is not even fun. There are several boards that I had to play over and over for 3-4 hours each in order to complete. I rally wanted to like this game. I played for about 20 hours and have only barely completed about 60%. Now Im done. This is just not enjoyable in any way. It was a nice attempt, but they really missed the chance to find a nice balance.

Thanks for the update!

As of version 1.1.5 Azkend 2 is much more accessible with less stress over the luck of the tiles. The game runs smoother as well and my data is no longer being erased for no reason. Great update, this is now a wonderful 5 star game.

Updated review

Thank you for updating this program. Much improved after the update. The first game is one of my favorites. This has now become my most played game.

This version is more fun

Update: Thankfully the developers listened to the negative comments and have released an update that addresses most of the concerns. Some levels are still hard, but in a "fair" way. Still not as fun as version 1, though. Original Review: loved Azkend, and I understand that a sequel is not going to be the same game. But I expected better than this. The tiles are OK but not as interesting as in the first game. The game is much more challenging, but not in a fun way. Roadblocks on every board prevent the player from matching really long chains. In fact the game seems to be designed to make matching chains longer than 3 a rarity. So often there are no matches possible and you must watch a pointless and overly long shuffling animation many times per level, only to be left with a board with few chains, none of which help you complete the level as the clock ticks down. Will not be buying the third installment on faith.

Eurohistorian

Good update! Beat the game & enjoy replay with all the power ups. Would like to be able to play with multiple profiles. Wish the developers would revamp Sparkle so that on master & expert levels player could use Immortality with 1 other amulet, like this game. Sparkle doesnt let you move much with Immortality & you die pretty easily without it from mid game forward.

Disappointing

This game is far inferior to the first, despite having great potential. The difficulty curve is still way too steep, with most timed puzzles feeling like games of chance rather than real puzzles. As a result, the game lacks the satisfying feeling of accomplishment I got from the first one. I will not be buying any further games in this series without a comprehensive demo. Once burned, twice shy...

Outstanding Game

Excellent game. Engaging and intense. Smoothe play very much appreciated. Too difficult? Well, you either can or cannot beat it. If its not your style, quit whining and move on. I say, " Bring it." Isnt that what gaming is about? Win or lose. Its a game.

good one

Gah, the bugs! This one will drive you nuts and I havent made it through yet, but if it was enough to keep me playing for a long stint, then its a good game. My only complaint is that some of the picture matching bits are simply too indistinguishable to identify. (And Ive got retina display - its just too much monochrome.)

What a Great one!

I love this game! It is challenging but not impossible. I have played it, and the first one, many, many times. I wish they would come out with another one. When they do Ill be first in line to buy it!

Regret buying

I really enjoyed azkend. This game has better production values but the game balance is terrible. Easy levels are followed by ldifficult levels where you just have to hope to get lucky to get a good layout to advance. Then after hard levels the next one might be easy again. Also dont like the picture search segments since the reference image can be rotated and the time limit is short.

Azend 2 awesomeness!

Loved version 1, thoroughly enjoying version 2! Thank you for making a wonderful game!

Downloading it right now

I loved the original version, I still have it and play it. I am sure ver. 2 will be as fun as the s1st.

Very nice.

The music and artwork is really good. Gameplay is also excellent and very immersive and addicting. Love it!

If you like being frustrated...

This is the game for you my friend. Much more difficult than the original. Dont go in unawares. Great game just 50% more frustrating than the first one. Still great polish and good mechanics though. Personally when I play something like this, I like a challenge, but a relaxing one, this title delivers on the first, but sadly does not on the second.

Exceptional

Excellent matching gameplay with good controls and top notch art and music. Loved this game. Finished it in about three sittings.
